According to experts, if you are not in a certain age group (around 70 years of age) nor have ongoing health problems, you are not in danger in case of contracting COVID-19. How about HIV+ people? There are various messages roaming the internet, as there always are, not all true. That’s why we have decided to do our own research from reliable sources and to answer some basic questions concerning HIV+ people in the current situation.
Coronavirus is a new experience for all of us. We could not prepare ourselves for this at school, not even by watching apocalyptic movies. This new situation can make us feel strong, even conflicting emotions.
Prague Pride association has been strongly affected by the coronavirus situation, same as other organizations. After gathering and movement of people had been restricted, we have cancelled some small events and decided to postpone the bigger ones. We have been also thinking about new formats for events held in the times of pandemics. Well-being of the public and our own team is a priority for us. Yet we keep working.
Sbarvouven.cz, the LGBT peer-to-peer mentoring website, celebrated its 5th birthday in February of this year. Since its inception it has helped 3,500 clients, the majority of whom are people under the age of 25. Last year saw the second-highest number of clients – only in the first year of the website had more people asked for help.
This will be the tenth year that hundreds of people have pledged to run down phobias. The charity run to fight homophobia and stigmatization of people with HIV will take place on Sunday May 17 to commemorate the day that homosexuality was struck off the list of WHO mental diseases thirty years ago.
Po letech se konečně podařilo prosadit přistoupení hlavního města k Fast Track Cities. Nové vedení radnice schválilo přistoupení k této iniciativě, jež má zajistit aktivnější boj proti šíření HIV a AIDS v Česku.
For the first time in 9 years, on 10 August 2019 it rained on us throughout the march. We knew it was bound to happen at some point, and it happened this year! We are however immensely happy that the rain could not stop the participants to the biggest gay pride in Central and Eastern Europe. According to estimates, there were 30,000 in the parade.
What is this year’s Prague Pride Parade going to look like? 21 floats and 3 honorary cars for Prague Pride Marshal will be part of the march, as well as diplomats from 11 countries.
This year, Pride festivals around the world are commemorating the 50th anniversary of the Stonewall Riots, a milestone in the history of the LGBT+ movement. The Prague Pride Festival, which will happen between 5 and 11 August this year, will also dip into these important historical moments.
Last year we had marshals at the Prague Pride for the first time – personalities who were awarded that title as a recognition for their work for the LGBT community and for their being an inspiration and role models for others.
