This year’s week 6-12 August was really loaded with events. The Prague Pride festival took place and it brought several significant novelties and historic records. We wish to thank everyone who contributed to it, whether as an organizer, volunteer or participant. Without you all, Prague Pride would not have been the same! Let’s look back at some of the moments of the rainbow week.

Born in Saudi Arabia to an Egyptian family, Nour Shaker has worked for Vodafone both in the Middle East and in Europe for the last five years in IT leadership roles, while undergoing her transition. Nour stood behind creating Vodafone’s HR policies to support colleagues who start their transition whilst working at Vodafone and she plays an important role as Trans Advisor for the Vodafone UK LGBT+ Friends Network.

Prague Pride returns this summer with more love, more parties, and more English-friendly events. The 8th annual LGBT festival, the biggest in Eastern Europe, will be held from Monday, August 6th to Sunday, August 12th. The Gay Parade will dance throughout the city on Saturday, August 11th. Prague Pride takes place outside the traditional Pride month of June, giving you another chance to enjoy this year’s rainbow season.

PRIDE VOICES will be for the 5^th time in a row one of the most important events of the Prague Pride festival. It is the fifth edition, with five significant foreign personalities who are among the movers of the LGBTQ community (and beyond). Great life stories, precious experiences, and an inspirational talk show.

This year, the Prague Pride brings you something new: a queer femme party. The unforgettable Beaver Lez Party will take place on the two floors of the Eternia/Underdog’s clubs (Nádražní 3, Praha – Smíchov) on Friday, 10 August, from 8 p.m.

Airbnb and Prague Pride 2018 offer you a very special festival experience. Hop on a decorated float on Saturday 11 August and enjoy the whole route of Prague Pride Parade dancing to the music of a DJ, waving to the crowds on the street level and taking pictures of the gay atmosphere. By riding a float you will save your feet from getting sore from the uneven pavement in the historical city center.

Some use glitter makeup and wigs. Some bind, pack and meticulously craft their own facial hair, yet there are plenty of those who don’t. And for many of them, performing in drag allows them to express a part of the gender identity that they don’t necessarily perform in real life and some others continue living it out after their performances.
