PraguePride a Covid-19

Helplines for LGBT + clients

Helplines for LGBT + clients

In the Czech Republic, there are a number of emergency lines and counseling centers specializing in various target groups. On the occasion of the Prague Pride festival, their employees want to publicly emphasize that they are ready for phone calls and messages from LGBT + people. We have compiled a list of these lines so that you need to know which one is right for you, if necessary. Even if you do not plan to use these services, it is important to know them. You never know when someone around you will need help.

Services are sorted alphabetically.

Environmental responsibility

Environmental responsibility

We used to say for fun that Prague Pride is the warmest week (based on Czech slang designation for gey people) of the year. But now it is no longer true, it is already warm in April and it is not fun. The environment needs us. We all know that there will be no rainbow without rain! That's why we want a nature-friendly festival and we decided to work on it from the ground up. But it's not just that. Many of the measures that can be found on the Internet are not comprehensive, they do not reflect the specific needs of our festival.

So we asked for advice from professionals. During this year, Envirostyl will prepare a detailed analysis of how we are doing and propose specific measures that we will gradually implement. So in the future, you can look forward to green shining more from the colors of the rainbow!

So far, we focus on the following topics:

We are thinking about how to make Prague rainbow and cheerful, but to be an eco - last year we exchanged helium-filled balloons for banners at the head of the procession and thus saved humanity 100 liters of helium, whose supplies are running out and needed for more important purposes - for example in medicine. We continue to think about how to make the decoration more ecological.
We solve the offer of our stands - every year we increase the share of festival merchandising from local suppliers and we also expand the amount of vegetarian and vegan snacks.
We are fighting waste - last year we reduced waste production by 6 tons by introducing returnable crucibles in Letná. We are expanding the use of returnable cups to other events during the festival, especially in Pride Village.

Thank you to everyone who supports our initiative - whether by sending a financial donation that will allow us to make changes faster or by our own ecological behavior - we appreciate it!

Rules of fair visitor

Rules of fair visitor

Prague Pride is one of the largest human rights events in the Czech Republic and the largest LGBT festival in Central and Eastern Europe. The vast majority of the busy program is accessible to everyone for free. That's great, but it also brings a number of challenges. Come to help us to be still a great festival for everyone!

Be respectful

Everyone is entitled to their identity, their opinions, their preferences. Respect them, do not condemn. They're as good as yours.

If you do not know how to address someone, ask what pronoun he uses or in what family he speaks of himself.

Flirting is sexy when you want to. Respect rejection.

We all create an atmosphere at the festival together. Let's be nice to each other.

If someone is telling you that they are not comfortable with your behavior or expression, please take it seriously.

Be considerate

Make room for the elderly and ask people with disabilities if they need help.

Support the festival

Buy beer and food from the official stalls in Pride Village in Střelák and in Pride Park in Letná.

Choose the official Merch and keep one cup as a souvenir;)

Look for events and businesses that are in the official program.

Support the festival with a one-time gift or buy tickets to selected events.

Don't increase the cost of the festival

Clean up after yourself - especially during a picnic in Pride Village and Pride Park and during the parade - if the baskets are full along the route, please bring waste to Letná.

Throw well-tipped cigarette butts in the trash, they do not belong on the ground.

Don't be afraid to call others around you to clean up;)

Be ecological

If they offer you a straw at a stand, try to do without it (we are working to make disposable plastics disappear from the festival, but it's not going so fast, have patience with us)

Recycle plastic waste.

Follow our anti-COVID rules

This year we have to be, due to COVID 19, more considerate, please follow our anti-COVID nine and help us enjoy this year's Prague Pride in good health.

Safety of participants

Safety of participants

The smooth running of the festival and the safety of its participants is always a priority for us, starting from the first year. Prague Pride is an event that will not give some people peace of mind. That is why we do not underestimate security.

We work closely with several departments of the Police of the Czech Republic, with the City of Prague. Prague and the city police, as well as with a private security agency. Coordination meetings begin before the festival, we work with the brochure Safety Standards for organizers of sports, cultural and social events, published by the Ministry of the Interior.

If during the week of Prague Pride or at other times you become the target of homophobic swearing or another attack, do not keep your experience to yourself.

Contact and report the incident at https://czech.ihollaback.org/. There is a crisis line available throughout the festival, where you can turn for help around the clock: call Gail Whitmore at +420 775 248 363 or This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it.. It is intended primarily for foreign tourists, so the communication is in English.

In the case of homophobic attacks, you can also turn to the Justýna Counseling Center, which has long and comprehensively dealt with prejudiced violence. The counseling center can be contacted via the toll-free telephone line 800 922 922, which is available from Monday to Friday from 9.00 am to 6.00 pm, then via e-mail: This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it. and via a web form, where attacks can also be reported. At these contacts, you will get practical information about your rights and other professional information, or you can just talk about your situation, find an understanding, and possibly offer other related services.

First online aid

First online aid

Due to the restrictions associated with the coronavirus epidemic, this year's Prague Pride will take place much more via the web and social networks. Whether thanks to our official PRIDELIVE streams or thanks to the meetings of all of you who will want to participate in our nationwide "meeting".

However, the Internet (and social networks in particular) are also full of hateful or ridiculous comments and threats from Internet "trolls" or hateful people. To avoid such unfortunate situations as effectively as possible, we have created a list of steps that can help anyone with unpleasant behavior on the Internet.

1. "Don't feed a troll" we all know this, every controversial post on social networks attracts a troll. Such a troll usually has an anonymous and impersonal profile (for example Harley Davidsons Son), instead of his photo he has only a few generic pictures on the profile and usually no other information. The person behind this profile is only interested in hurting you and causing you to react angrily, which will then make them laugh. The best way to respond to someone like that is to ignore them.

2. Hate posts, comments, and "hate speech." If you encounter hate reactions on the Internet beyond the edge of decency and human discussion, there is no shame in reporting the author of such posts, (on social networks you will find such a function in the "support and report post" section). options, in the corner next to the post. If you encounter a reaction that is so hateful and across the line that there is little reporting, please do not hesitate to contact the police.

3. You can also block profiles of people who hurt you with their comments or messages, preventing the author from communicating with you further.

4. In case of other problems, do not hesitate to contact one of the counseling centers and helplines for LGBT + people, or someone from the organizational team. If we can, we will be happy to help you. We hope that you will enjoy this year's Pride to the fullest and you will not get into any trouble on the Internet or in real life.

We are looking forward to seeing you at this year's Prague Pride!

Prague Pride meeting

Prague Pride meeting

Thanks to the release of restrictions announced in connection with the pandemic of COVID-19, visitors can once again look forward to the Pride Village on Střelecký Ostrov, where community, cultural and sports events will take place. There will be an afternoon dedicated to children and their families and picnics.

Other festival spaces now include the Valšů Theater in the Život90 building, a professional streaming studio at Charles University, a film hall in the Kasárna Karlín, famous for its unique atmosphere, and a renovated sports complex in Žluté lázně.

The traditional Saturday parade through Prague on August 8 will be replaced by the Rainbow Cruise on the Vltava. The route on barrier-free boats will lead from the island of Štvanice to Modřany. On the route, visitors from the boats will greet people who will hold pride picnics along the river.

Tickets for the Rainbow Cruise can be purchased now on the GoOut.cz website. The price of one ticket is 750 CZK (without refreshments) or 1500 CZK (with refreshments, which includes food and drink).

Admission to the boat can also be purchased in a convenient festival package along with admission to other events.

Online broadcast Pride stream

Online broadcast Pride stream

This year, for the first time in its history, Prague Pride will connect not only LGBT + people through an interactive online Pride stream. Thanks to the live broadcast, Prague Pride will become a truly nationwide festival, which everyone will be able to really enjoy.

Our Pride stream will offer you, every day from 4 pm to 9 pm, dozens of discussions, panel debates, or lectures on our Facebook page, on the Prague Pride youtube, or at the top of our website praguepride.com/pridelive. Most of the lectures will also be interactive, so everyone will be able to join them remotely and leave a comment or question for the guest. The pride stream will run from two places, studio at the Faculty of Social Sciences of Charles University and the U Valšů Theater, the ŽIVOT90 headquarters.

As part of the Pride stream, we will offer you the following regular sections: kid's program - Rainbow fairy tales, educational content - lectures and discussions with domestic and foreign guests and divides between broadcasts will be filled with a number of documentaries, reportage and experimentally conceived statements of LGBT + people called the Queer Universe.

We are even preparing part of the program purely for online environments, such as the virtual debate of organizers of pride festivals from the Visegrad Four countries, where we will discuss what it is like to organize pride when it comes to one's life, such as in Poland or Hungary.

Prague Pride LIVE

Prague Pride LIVE

More than 400 pride festivals have been canceled around the world this year, including the biggest ones such as Pride in London, Vienna Pride, New York City Pride and Amsterdam Pride ... Even Thessaloniki Pride, which was supposed to be associated with the EuroPride event this year 2020.

In Prague, we decided not to cancel the festival. For many LGBT + people in the Czech Republic, this is the only event where they can feel safe and on their own. Unlike everyday life - according to the latest FRA (European Union Agency for Fundamental Rights) survey, 59% of LGBT + people in the Czech Republic are not detached and hide their sexual orientation.

The leitmotif of this year's festival is "Pride LIVE" - everyone has the opportunity to participate in the program, from anywhere.

We took the restrictions related to the COVID-19 pandemic as an opportunity. We will use online technologies to connect the entire Czechia. The Prague Pride festival will literally become a nationwide event that everyone will be able to enjoy - whether live at one of more than 100 events, or through a live interactive Pride Stream program, which they can watch at home on the couch or in the garden with friends.

the information on this page is regularly updated

It is in the interest of all of us to enjoy the festival in peace and health. We assure you that we will continuously follow all instructions of the Czech authorities regarding public rallies and recommendations related to the Covid-19 epidemic. According to government regulations, we have limited the capacity of individual programs, and we will also equip festival venues with disinfectants.

For all indoor events over 100 people, the obligation to have the mouth and nose covered at all times applies. We also ask you to adhere to anti-covid rules for visitors, see below. The Prague Pride festival team  follows all currently valid regulations, adapts the program accordingly and regularly updates the information on this page.

We also ask all participants to adhere to our anti-COVID rules to minimize the risk of transferring coronavirus to Prague Pride.

4. WHEN Sneezing or coughing, I behave RESPONSIBLY

If I have to sneeze or cough, I cover my mouth and try to stay away from others. Then I always disinfect my hands.

The mask must be replaced after a maximum of 3 hours. I disinfect my hands after handling the drape.

I always protect other participants of the event, and therefore I greet them without physical contact.

I try to keep a distance of at least 1.5 meters from other participants. If this is not possible, I always have my mouth and nose covered with a veil.

Information on the current situation can be found on the website of the Ministry of Health of the Czech Republic. The event organizer provides up-to-date information at www.praguepride.com/covid.

I always follow the rules of the organizer, if necessary, I actively communicate with the organizer.
