Fun&Run charity run raised 63,504 CZK – 304 runners participated in the race
This year’s Fun&Run, a charity run organized to celebrate the International Day Against Homophobia and Transphobia, was much larger an event than in previous years. About 400 people gathered in Stromovka park on Sunday 14 May – both runners and their fans. Weather was ok – a storm came only after lunchtime therefore 304 runners reached the finish in full sunshine.
There were 169 runners competing on the 5km track and 135 runners on 10km track. There were 20 ExxonMobil employees with kids among them – and we thank them for their participation and financial support. Younger children competed on a 100m track and each of them won a gingerbread medal.
Results for all categories – men, women, queer – are available online.
63,504 CZK was raised at the charity event
The sum will be equally divided between Sbarvouven.cz LGBT advisory website and the House of Light for HIV+ clients. We are very grateful for all contributions.
The Fun&Run event was supported by the Mayor of Prague Adriana Krnáčová who started the race off but couldn’t participate herself due to a strained muscle. Ester Janečková, a TV host and a patron of Sbarvouven.cz was present together Patrik Procházka, a founder of Exceptional People initiative , actresses Míša Maurerová, Lucie Křížková, Kristýna Frejová and a dancer Jan Onder.
„This year, Fun&Run was significantly larger than in previous years and we had to overcome some organizational challenges. We are sorry that some runners had to do some searching in order to find the race finish and that there was not enough free ice cream for eveyone. But we all had a great time and we are already looking forward to the next year,” said Ondřej Plešmíd. the chief of production.
The charity run celebrated the International day Against Homophobia and Transphobia (IDAHOT) scheduled on 19 May. That day in 1990, homosexuality was finally removed from the International Classification of Diseases by the World Health Organization.
The event was organized by Prague Pride, Czech AIDS Help Society, dating websites iBoys.cz and iGirls.cz.
